About The Cookie Thing

The design for the Cookie Thing with the variations of sizes included for a variety of baked items came about from a need. In my work in helping underserved women learn to bake for profit, I needed something to help them achieve perfection of baking multiple amounts of cookies to look good and taste good. Above average taste was priority.  It took many attempts to get the exact sizes for various baked goods, and the easiest of handling rolling pin along with the best wood. The process of designing and getting the dimensions and standards to fit the needs came about over a long period of time.  Once the various sizes and various woods were tested, and tested and tested, it became apparent the tool had tremendous merit.

Susan Butler and The Cookie Thing

It was exciting that this product was introduced for sale to the public for the first time by invitation from Williams-Sonoma. Their first ever Artisans’ Market at the Highland Village store in Houston, Texas this past June, proved positive the desire and need for this tool to be available to the public. I was pleased to be asked to attend more of their events. The response has been fulfilling. I want to take this opportunity to thank all of you that came by and saw the Cookie Thing demonstrated and your support in buying the product. Your enthusiasm, curiosity and comments of “Oh wow!” were encouraging. A heartfelt thank you to the great people at Williams-Sonoma and to the many nice customers that came by!

What I learned from the recent five Williams-Sonoma events that made me feel best of all is somewhat personal. Bakers seem to come in three forms. Those that are intimidated by the whole process, those that have been discouraged, and those that have a good handle on it, but they all three proved to me as I demonstrated the product that they were thrilled with this tool. It opened the door to all three levels of home bakers. This has been the most satisfying of all for me personally. I want to help you enjoy the tradition of baking. I want it to be fun and for you to experience the tremendous improvement to flavor.

Another great time October 13th at the Williams-Sonoma Artisans' Market at Town and Country! Thank you to all for coming out and please visit our Facebook page @ www.facebook.com/CookieThing. We will be back at the Williams-Sonoma Highland Village store on Saturday October 20th from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Will have samples of some of the recipes on this website. Would love to see you there! Thank you Williams-Sonoma!

Hoping for happiness your way with this new season upon us. A cool fall day is the perfect ingredient for the smell of something baking in the oven! Please stay in touch and would love to hear from you.

All the best,

Susan Butler
